Papa Needs A New Pair of Shoes!

When I was test driving Pony I noticed that it was handling like sloppy jello. It was mushing all over the place when I was doing fast lane changes, and was just messy in the corners.

From experience I pretty much knew it was the tires, and when I got back to the lot I gave a look. Sure enough, they were bargain basement Firestone, FireHawk, Wide-Oval/Indy 500's.. Blech! If you look online they seem to get decent reviews for being a $75/100 tire, but I get a feeling these must be folks who don't really know what a performance tire should feel like.

At any rate, these snot-balls had to go! 95% of the time I'm a Michelin man, (no pun intended!) So I picked out a nice set of Pilot Sport A/S 3s. (see links on my Vendors page).

Then I figured that the stock Ford wheels looked kind of "Plain Jane" and something a little more sexy would be nice! So, I picked out a set of Foose Speed 18x8 Black Machined wheels to go with the Michelins. I think the black & silver of the Foose's add a very nice contrast to the car's silver paint and black trim.

I got on-line with "Performance Plus Tires" in Long Beach, CA. and ordered up the whole deal, mounted & balanced, with TPMS installed, and even a nitrogen gas fill. FedEx direct to my door, with free shipping! It was a great deal!

It took about a half hour to do the swap with Pony up on the lift. Before and After pics below. What do you think? I rather like the look! And the handling is 1000% better now! Great decision all the way around!!

Thanks for stopping by and visiting with Pony and I.
