Standard New Car UpgradesWhenever I buy a new car there are 4 thing I immediately upgrade when I get it home. First, it gets a K&N air cleaner. Second, a new set of PIAA Super Silicone wipers. Third an oil and filter change with Rel Line oil and a HiPo K&N Wrench-On filter. I like the K&N air filter because it's cleanable and reuseable, thereby saving money long term. It also is more free breathing, thus giving better performance and milage. A win-win all around. I've found that the PIAA wipers, while pricey, last forever! They don't dry up in the summer and get brittle. They don't fall apart in the cold of winter. They wipe cleaner than clean, and leave behind a silicone sheen that repels water like crazy! I've been using Red-Line lubricants on all my cars for about 20 years now. I first used it starting back in 94 on my BMW 740. After about 120K miles I had to tear down the top half of the engine to fix a leaky gasket. The insides of the motor looked like new! No crud, sludge, wear, scoring.... Nothing! I've rebuilt a bunch of engines and I had never seen a motor that clean inside with that many miles on it. I run 10K miles between changes. I've used Red-Line ever since. I also use their tranny fluid when needed. I like the K&N oil filter because it has a good filter design, and I love the "wrench-end". It makes the change SO Much easier! Especially if you notice how difficult it is to get at a Mustang filter. As a side note, I also usually put a small magnet on the filter housing to make a spot for any metal particles to stick to on the inside. It took about an hour to do all the changes with Pony up on the lift for the oil work. Some pics below. Thanks for stopping by and visiting with Pony and I.
